Brief Synopsis of St. Attracta’s N.S. Parents Association Meeting

  • National Parents Council

 

Membership is to be renewed for the coming year.

 

 

  • Main Fundraising Events

 

The main purpose of this meeting and the only item on the agenda was to plan fundraising events for the remainder of the school year. The Parents Association have more exciting fundraisers planned for the remainder of the school year, more details to follow in due course. Your continued support and involvement in these events is as ever greatly appreciated.

  • It was agreed to go ahead with the bake sale on Easter Sunday, 16th of April. A letter will be sent out to all parents requesting help with baking and selling.
  • Much discussion took place on a big fundraising event and the PA has started to make plans to hold a 5K run. The 8th of April is being considered for this. All support would be appreciated and this 5K run should be a nice activity and ties in nicely with the work the children do in school around Active Schools.
  • We hope to hold a large community sports day in school towards the end of the school year. A provisional date of Sunday, the 18th of June has been discussed.

 

 

  • St. Patrick’s Day 2017

 

The Parents Association and the School will be working together towards St. Attracta’s N.S. parade entry. All parents are encouraged to get involved. There will be an evening to help prepare for this in school at a date to be decided.

 

 

  • Book Fair

 

Following on from previous discussions regarding the cost of books at the book fair, it was decided that the book fair should still happen but will be different than previous years. The book fair brings in significant money towards funding books for the school so it is vital that we still source this money for the school. It was agreed that we should ask families to donate their unused books (in excellent condition) that could be sold in the school for a small fee. This would then go towards the cost of books for the school. The date of this book fair will be agreed at the next meeting. Again, volunteers will be needed to set up and assist on the day of the book fair. Volunteers will be confirmed at our next meeting. 

 

 

  • Next Meeting

 

The next Parents Association meeting will take place in the school on Wednesday the 22nd of March 2017.  The Parents Association always welcome all parents to join the Meetings and get involved in any of the fundraising activities.
