Connaught Ladies G.A.A. Programme begins in St. Attracta’s.

Our school was very fortunate this afternoon to begin a coaching programme with Connaught G.A.A. Development Officer Noelle Gormley.

This programme operates in conjunction with Charlestown Ladies G.A.A. A number of club members, mentors and coaches were present to help and encourage the girls who really enjoyed the first of this five week programme.

It is a great link between the club and our school, affording the girls the opportunity to practice their skills and have great fun!

A special word of thanks to Noelle, club organisers Patricia Ruane and Tom McLaughlin, and of course our coaches Bernadette Durkin, Sarah Duffy, Emma Jane Buckley, Fidelma McHale, Richella O’Connor, Karena Finn and Maureen McEntire.

Well done to our Second Class who on Saturday last made their First Holy Communion in St. James’ Church Charlestown. It was a lovely afternoon. The church looked amazing. For this we must say a special word of thanks to Mrs McCafferty and her son Joseph who as always put so much work into our sacramental preparation.

The children added so much to the ceremony with their beautiful reading, singing, responses and movements throughout the mass. Mrs Reilly can be so proud of each of you. We really hope you had a lovely afternoon and weekend after all your hard work.

A special word of thanks also to the parents of our Second Class students who presented Mrs.Reilly and Mrs.McCafferty with beautiful flowers as a token of their appreciation for all their hard work. It was a lovely gesture.

Thank you to Elaine Madden for her beautiful singing and music throughout the ceremony, again as with the children it added so much to our day.

Finally we could not forget Fr.Doherty and Fr.Johnston who played such a special role in the children’s Communion day. They both have worked so hard helping the children prepare for this day. We are as always so appreciative of their support.

Reopening of our School Pitch

Today saw our children play on our new school pitch for the first time. They have been so patient over the past number of months waiting expectantly to get out on the grass!!

Over the Easter break the goalposts were put into place. Sincere thanks to Ciarán McBrien, Joe Lenehan, Marty Fleming , Owen Callaghan and all at Charlestown GAA for their help and assistance.

Finally and perhaps most importantly a special word of thanks to Kieran Durkin who has invested so much time, energy and interest into ensuring our playing field was ready for all the children to use. It really is a credit to his hard work and enthusiasm.

It is a resource which we are delighted and fortunate to have!
