Comhghairdeachas to the pupils who really excelled over the past number of days representing our school.
Firstly a huge word of congratulations to Millie Pilcher who, swimming in the National Finals broke both her personal best times in the 100m Individual Medley and 50m Butterfly. This really was a fantastic achievement to perform so well on such a great stage. We really admire all Millie’s hard work, dedication and effort and look forward to continuing to watch her progress.
Secondly well done to Amy Mahon who yesterday won the Cumann na mBunscol Girls U11 handball Championships at McHale Park. Amy is a very committed member of the local club and continues to make huge strides. Amy now progresses to the Connaught Finals which will take place this coming Sunday in Salthill. We wish Amy very well.
Well done also to Órán Duffy who competed in the Boys U-13 section yesterday. Órán played very well against very talented opposition. Órán has another year remaining at this level and should be very proud of his progress to date.
Finally we had a busy morning at the Mayo Spikeball Finals earlier. Congratulations to our Girl’s team who progressed to the Connaught Primary Spikeball finals which will take place in Loughrea, Galway on March 9th.
Well done also to our Mixed Teams who have made huge progress in a short time. It was heartening to witness the improvement in confidence and skill levels as the day progressed.
There are still lots of areas for further improvement for our ‘Girls’ and we look forward to working hard over the next month to prepare for this date.
A special word of thanks to Geraldine Finn for coaching the teams. Her knowledge and expertise is invaluable alongside her interest in the game. We really appreciate this support. Also a big thank you to the Transition Year students from St.Joseph’s Community College who have worked so well with our students as part of their programme this year. Again we really appreciate all their help.
